Optimizing the hybrid PVDG and DSTATCOM integration in electrical distribution systems based on a modified homonuclear molecules optimization algorithm

Abstract The increasing use of non‐linear loads in electrical distribution systems (EDS) led to a greater need for reactive power compensation, losses minimization, improved voltage and stability. This paper proposes the optimal integration hybrid photovoltaic distributed generation (PVDG) static synchronous compensator (DSTATCOM) into IEEE 33 69‐bus EDS. A modified version homonuclear molecules optimization (mHMO) is developed determine allocation devices, while minimizing multi‐objective function (MOF) based on total active (TAPL), deviation (TVD), investment cost integrated devices (IC PVDG IC DSTATCOM ). primary objective mHMO enhance equilibrium between exploration exploitation original HMO by implementing fresh stage. effectiveness was assessed using CEC17 benchmark functions. findings demonstrate that achieved excellent results, including high‐quality solution favourable convergence rate. Additionally, results outperforms its basic reducing TAPL 94.27% 97.87% two EDS, improving profiles devices. study shows potential PVDG‐DSTATCOM performance EDS highlights optimizing their integration.
